Training Your
Miniature Pig
Training your miniature pig can be very rewarding
for both you and your miniature; as well as, a
great bonding experience for the both of you.  If
done properly, your miniature pig can be taught to
perform many amazing tricks.  Below is a step by
step guide that will help you to properly train your
miniature pig; as well as, some of the tricks that
you can teach your miniature pig.  Please note
that your miniature pig is very smart and will
quickly learn how you are feeling.  Your miniature
pig will not only learn how you are feeling, he or
she will also learn to mimic your behaver.  We are
all about happy healthy miniature pigs.  When you
teaching your miniature pig tricks, stay positive.  If
your miniature pig does not get what you are
trying to teach him or her right away, keep
working with them.  If you or your miniature pig are
getting to frustrated, take a break and conclude
when you both are ready to proceed.
Step one is for your miniature pig to be in the
proper state of mind to learn the tricks you
wish to teach him or her.

To accomplish this, it is best to set aside a certain
time of the day for your training.  Having a
structure for play time, training and meal time, will
give your miniature pig something to look forward
to each day.  Having a proper structured time for
your miniature pigs activities will also help your
miniature pig to understand what is expected of
him or her.  Training your miniature pig will involve
patience, rewards and discipline.

Rewarding your miniature pig - Selecting a
reward for your miniature pig is easy.  The reward
should be something that you can carry easily in
your pocket and that is not too fattening for your
miniature pig.  For example, I suggest you using
your miniature pigs regular food as a reward, or
something simple like a box of raisins.  Also, do
not give your miniature pig its reward using your
fingers!  Instead, but the reward in the middle of
your palm and give your miniature pig their reward
with an open hand.  Giving your miniature pig its
reward with your fingers will teach your miniature
pig to constantly bit at your fingers even when
there is no reward.
Miniature Pig Tricks
Timing when you give your miniature pig
the reward

Timing is a very important part of the training
process.  If you give your miniature pig its
reward too early, then your miniature pig will
become confused and disengaged in the
training process.  If you give your miniature pig
the reward too late, it will not understand what it
is getting the reward for.  As you begin training
your miniature pig, you will also be training
yourself.  Together you will figure out the proper
time to reward your miniature pig for the tricks
you are trying to teach him or her.

Patience is very important when teaching
your miniature pig tricks
- A happy pig can be
taught so much better than a frustrated pig.  It is
important for you to gage both you and your
miniature pigs frustration level.  If either of you
are getting to frustrated, it is better to
discontinue the training session until a time that
you are both in a relaxed state of mind.  There
should also be limited distractions for the
training session.  So turn off the TV, attempt to
do the training away from any other pets or
additional spectators.  To obtain maximum
training results, training should be a one on one
session with just you and your miniature pig, so
attempt to take away any obstacles that may be
a distraction.
